Green Neon Against The Snow

How do you bear up against winter when it just won't go away? How do you bear the never ending cold of January? Berlin, for that matter, has been particularly hard on us all and sustained many casualties. (Not so many deaths I should hope but a lot of people suffering from annoying colds and flus these days.)

My answer is both silly and simple at the same time: Fight winter with a neon green clutch! Seriously, don't shake your heads just now! The colour of this www.ohhAndy.com bag is so funky that it brightens up any mood and adds a lovely splash of madness to any monochrome winter outfit. It is also big enough to carry both Paracetamol and tissues and honestly, what more can you ask of a bag?!
For the umbrella that doesn't fit in the bag, just ask your boyfriend to hold it over your head!

Wie hält man einen Winter durch, der einfach nicht verschwinden will? Wie übersteht man diese nicht enden wollende Januarkälte? Berlin, dass muss ich wirklich sagen, war bisher besonders schonungslos uns gegenüber und forderte ebenso große Verluste. (Wenige Todesfälle, das will ich doch hoffen, aber umso mehr Menschen, die dieser Tage an nervigen Erkältungen und Grippen leiden müssen.)

Meine Antwort auf dieses Problem ist sowohl sinnfrei wie auch simpel: Bekämpft den Winter mit einer neongrünen Clutch! Ehrlich jetzt, noch nicht die Köpfe schütteln! Die Farbe dieser www.ohhAndy.com Tasche ist so knallig, dass sie jede Stimmung im Nu aufhellt und jedem noch so monochomen Winteroutfit eine hübsche Portion Wahnsinn verleiht.
Außerdem ist die Clutch geräumig genug, um sowohl Paracetamol als auch Taschentücher mitzunehmen und ganz ehrlich, was will man mehr von einer Tasche als das?!
Und für den Regenschirm, der leider nicht mehr in das Täschchen passt, nehmt ihr einfach euren Freund, der dann schützend den Schirm über euch hält!

In Madrid with C&A #reimagine Part 2

Here comes part two of the C&A #Reimagine Designer Challenge recap - this time in pictures. If you want to read more about this challenge, read my previous post on this topic HERE.

At the champagne reception, we had the chance to meet everyone attending the event. This meant meeting old and new blogging friends and some of the C&A people. We had a lot of fun and took a bunch of Instagram-pictures as well. You can see these pictures by looking for the #reimagine hashtag on Instagram by the way.

Hier kommt also Teil zwei meines Rückblicks auf die C&A #Reimagine Designer Challenge - dieses mal in Bildern. Wenn ihr mehr über die Challenge wissen wollt, könnt ihr meinen vorherigen Post dazu HIER lesen.

Bei der Champagner-Begrüßung konnten wir erstmal jeden ein wenig kennen lernen. Das bedeutete vor allem, alte und neue Bloggerfreunde und ein paar der C&A-Leute zu treffen. Wir hatten viel Spaß dabei und haben eine riesige Menge an Instagram-Bildern gemacht. Die könnt ihr euch übrigens anschauen, wenn ihr auf Instagram den Hashtag #reimagine eingebt.

Die wundervolle, hübsche Alice von Alicepoint sah auf der beleuchteten Bank einfach perfekt aus!

After a chat with the other bloggers and a small (very tiny fingerfoody) lunch, we were paired up and started the meet and greet session with the designers. You can check my video HERE if you want to see more about that speeddating-session.

Nach noch einer Runde Bloggergeschwafel und einem mini (wirklich mini fingerfood) Mittagessen, wurden wir in Grüppchen aufgeteilt um die Designer kennen zu lernen. Wenn ihr etwas mehr von dieser "Speeddating-Session" sehen wollt, könnt ihr euch mein Video HIER zu Gemüte führen.

Together with German designer Miriam Lehle and the other German bloggers Maren and Anjelica, we then went to a nearby illustration museum and had a look around. Some funny stuff, mainly comics from around the 1930s were exhibited and we took a moment to stroll around there and check out everything. Afterwards we had coffee in a sweet local café.

Zusammen mit der deutschen Designerin Miriam Lehle und den beiden anderen deutschen Bloggern Maren und Anjelica, sind wir dann in ein Illustrationsmuseum in der Nähe gefahren worden. Da gab es ziemlich irre Sachen, hauptsächlich Comics aus den 1930er Jahren. Wir haben uns Zeit genommen, alles anzuschauen bevor wir uns in ein uriges Café um die Ecke gesetzt haben um uns auszutauschen und etwas besser kennen zu lernen.

Mein Ariel DIY Part 1 + Win to Travel With Me!

Have you missed competition time? Well, thanks to Ariel you'll have to wait no longer, here it comes:

With an old lovely knit that still looks really nice and a couple of assorted beads and pearls, I want to create a "necklace-look embroidery" DIY. Super simple.

Mit einem alten, aber immer noch sehr schönen Pulli und ein paar gemischten Perlen und Pailletten möchte ich eine "Halsketten-Look Stickerei" als DIY anfertigen. Super einfach.

At the beginning, you can arrange the pearls and beads the way you like it best. Later on, you can still add or leave out things if you like. Of course, now you'll need needle and a light thread as well as scissors to attach everything to the sweater.

Legt euch die Perlen und Pailletten erst einmal zurecht und schaut, wie es euch am besten gefällt. Spontan kann man dann immer noch etwas dazunähen oder weglassen, wenn man möchte.
Ihr braucht dann natürlich Nadel, hellen Faden und eine Schere, um alles festzunähen.

It doesn't matter if you're not the best seamstress in the world. It's ok to look shitty on the backside, no one will ever see!

Es ist nicht so schlimm, wenn ihr nicht die beste Näherin der Welt seid. Es ist auch ok, wenn es auf der Rückseite total schlimm aussieht, das wird niemals jemand sehen!

In Madrid with C&A #reimagine

Bloggers meet designers during a "speed dating" session in Madrid.

Quite recently and along with a happy bunch of other fashion and style bloggers from all over Europe, I'd been invited to Madrid by C&A to follow along and get to know the 8 designers who will take part in the Reimagine Design Challenge initiated by C&A.

"C&A?" you might ask, "I'm not really sure that is for me." And I thought the same - at first. But obviously, C&A not only intends to give these designers the chance to be part of something incredible, they are seemingly trying to reimagine their own structures and target groups as well.
Coming from a family-centered background (my mother used to buy me a lot of clothes at C&A up until I was about 10 years old), C&A now wants to also target a dynamic, young and fashion-savvy group of buyers as well. I can only imagine this to be the reason for them to host an amazing event in Spain's wonderful capital and asking us bloggers to spread the word about the reimagine idea.

What is this design challenge all about then? Well, quite honestly, we weren't really sure ourselves. But we've found out that these 8 designers from all over Europe will be designing new and amazing fashion from unusual, everyday items like plastic forks, spoons and knives. These already designed items will be destroyed (by melting, breaking etc.) and something new will be imagined from the material by these talented designers. Sounds weird, but I believe they can do it.

During our "speed dating" session where we had the chance to talk to each designer in person, we were familiarized with their recent collections, their ideas and passions. It was really quite interesting and funny.
In the next stage, the designers will create and, well, reimagine the given items and finally will be presenting them (hopefully to us). I can't wait to see what they've come up with. I have high hopes!

Vor Kurzem wurde ich gemeinsam mit einer lustigen Truppe internationaler Mode-und Styleblogger von C&A nach Madrid eingeladen. Wir durften dort einen Tag lang mit 8 Designern die Reimagine Design Challenge kennen lernen, die C&A initiiert hatte.

"C&A?" fragt ihr euch vielleicht jetzt. "Ich weiß nicht, ob das etwas für mich ist." Und das dachte ich auch - zunächst jedenfalls. Aber offensichtlich möchte C&A nicht nur diesen Designern die Chance geben, an etwas großartigem teilzunehmen, sondern hat sich anscheinend auf die Kappe geschrieben, ihr Unternehmen und ihre Zielgruppen neu zu strukturieren. "Reimagine" halt.
Aus einem sehr familienorientierten Unternehmen kommend (meine Mutter hat mir oft Kleidung bei C&A gekauft, bis ich ca. 10 Jahre alt war), möchten sie wohl nun auch eine dynamisch-junge und modebegeistert-stilsichere Gruppe von Käufern ansprechen. So erkläre ich mir jedenfalls, dass C&A uns zu einem wirklich schnieken Event in Spaniens Hauptstadt eingeladen hat, um uns anschließend über die reimagine-Idee berichten zu lassen.

Worum geht es nun aber bei dieser Design Challenge? Nun, ehrlich gesagt wussten wir das auch erst nicht so wirklich. Was wir jedoch herausfinden konnten, war, dass diese 8 Designer aus ganz Europa aus ganz gewöhnlichen Alltagsgegenständen wie etwa Plastikgabeln, -messern und -löffeln etwas neues, außergewöhnliches im Bereich Mode erdenken und herstellen werden. Ein bestehendes Design wird also durch Zerstörung aufgebrochen (z.B. durch Schmelzen oder Zerschlagen) und anschließend soll das Material als Grundlage für die neuen Designs dienen. Klingt erstmal komisch, aber ich glaube, die bekommen das hin.

Während unserer "Speed Dating" Session, in der wir persönlich mit den Designern sprechen konnten, stellten diese uns ihre neuesten Kollektionen und Ideen vor. Das war tatsächlich sehr interessant und auch oftmals sehr lustig.
In der nächsten Phase werden die Designer dann also ihre Designs kreieren, die dann (hoffentlich auch uns) präsentiert werden. Ich bin sehr gespannt, was dabei herauskommen wird. Ich habe große Erwartungen!

Both vertically and horizontally, I've created outfits that, in this first Sudoku, are my must haves for spring 2013. I still want to wear bold colours like yellow and blue but mix them with nudes and metallics.
I love the contrast and I think that a little hint of colour in an otherwise very simple, feminine and elegant outfit adds just about the right amount of quirkiness and fun to the ensemble. After all, styling should be all about fun, right?

Vertikal wie auch horizontal habe ich hier Outfits kreiert, die, in diesem ersten Sudoku, meine absoluten Must-Haves für das Frühjar 2013 sind. Ich möchte immer noch auffällige Farben wie Gelb und Blau tragen und sie mit Beigetönen und metallischen Details mixen.
Ich liebe diesen Kontrast und denke, dass eine Idee Farbe in einem ansonsten eher schlicht femininen und eleganten Outfit genau die richtige Prise Verspieltheit und Spaß in das Ensemble einstreut. Schließlich zählt beim Styling ja vor allem der Spaß, stimmt's?

This second Sudoku I've made is all about the things I would love to wear right now as it's still winter and I just can't help but still longing for black and burgundy shades in my outfits all the time.
Prints, lace, leather, fur and studs are just too nice to be abandoned just yet and because I know I won't like them much anymore once the first warm rays of sunshine start tickling my nose, I feel like celebrating them for as long as I can. Are you celebrating along?

Dieses zweite Sudoku beinhaltet all die Teile, die ich im Moment noch so gerne trage, da der Winter noch keine Anstalten macht, sich zu verdrücken. Ich kann einfach nicht anders, Schwarz und Weinrot stehen noch immer ganz oben auf meiner Wunschliste.

Bow Tie and Baroque Suit

Only when choosing a handful of pictures for this post on my computer did I notice the sneaky little yellow car in the background! So funny, it's on almost every picture. Why is this so funny to me? Well, it's an inside joke for anyone who listens to the BBC radio show Cabin Pressure. Just listen to the episode "Ottery St Mary" and you'll know why. Or have a look at the link above. Just this much: You are always playing yellow car!

But let's talk about this outfit and why the hell I am wearing a bow tie around my wrist. It is not meant to be a statement of any kind, it's just a nice way to add a little colour to the outfit and also give the red of my lips a reappearance somewhere else in my outfit. And why around my wrist? Well, I couldn't wear it around my neck, right? My shirt couldn't be buttoned up, so the wrist was the second best option.

The suit is a sales find from Asos and it was love on first sight. I've been looking for a patterned suit for ages and this one seemed simple yet glamorous and exciting enough to be worn on several different occasions. Saturday brunch, red carpet event or birthday party? It all works in this suit.

Erst, als ich mir einige Fotos dieses Sets für den Artikel auswählen wollte, bemerkte ich das freche, kleine und sehr gelbe Auto im Hintergrund. Es hatte sich auf beinahe jedes Bild gemogelt. Warum ich das so lustig finde? Nun ja, das ist so ein Insider für alle, die die BBC Radioshow Cabin Pressure kennen. Hört euch einfach die Folge "Ottery St Mary" an und ihr wisst Bescheid. Oder schaut euch den Link unter dem ersten Bild an. Nur soviel: Man spielt immer Yellow Car!

Aber lasst mich über das Outfit sprechen und warum zum Teufel ich eine Fliege um mein Handgelenk trage. Das soll kein Statement irgendeiner Art sein, sondern lediglich einen schönen Kontrast erzeugen und meine Lippenfarbe wieder aufgreifen. Und warum um das Handgelenk? Na, um den Hals konnte ich sie schließlich nicht tragen, da mein Ausschnitt zu groß war und das Handgelenk war die zweite logische Variante.

Den Anzug habe ich im Sale bei Asos entdeckt und es war Liebe auf den ersten Klick. Ich habe eine gefühlte Ewigkeit nach einem gemusterten Anzug gesucht, der sowohl schlicht als auch glamourös und aufregend genug war, um in verschiedensten Situationen getragen zu werden. Brunch am Samstag, eine roter-Teppich-Veranstaltung oder eine Geburtstagsfeier? Geht alles in diesem Anzug.
