Having emerged from the late 1970s New Wave scene, "The Cars" are up there with all my other favourite bands from that era in music history. If you're generally into that kind of music, you should definitely check them out if you don't know them, already.
Also, if you're really really bored, you could scroll through the List of New Wave artists and bands on Wikipedia. Sometimes I just click on some band that I don't know and have a listen. It's one way to find out about music you didn't know, yet!

These pictures were taken during last week's short visit of summer when we certainly didn't want to miss out on this year's one chance of swimming in the lake! How do you like the look? It reminds me of old holiday cards what with the hat and the colours of the photos.
Upon leaving, an old man asked us whether we were spending our honeymoon by the lake. I smiled and replied: "Not, yet!"

Als Teil der späten 1970er New Wave-Szene sind "The Cars" ein fester Bestandteil meiner Liste von Lieblings-New-Wave-Bands. Wer generell gerne New Wave hört, sollte sich diese Band in jedem Fall einmal zu Gemüte führen, es sei denn, ihr kennt sie schon.
Wenn euch zudem noch extrem langweilig sein sollte, könnt ihr euch einmal durch die Liste der New Wave Künstler und Bands auf Wikipedia klicken. Manchmal entdeckt man so noch ganz neue alte Musik und das lohnt sich doch!

Diese Bilder sind letzte Woche entstanden, als sich der Sommer doch noch einmal heraus getraut hat und wir diese einzigartige Chance, wenigstens einmal dieses Jahr im See zu schwimmen, nicht verpassen wollten! Wie gefällt euch der Look? Irgendwie erinnern mich die Bilder an alte Urlaubspostkarten, mit dem Hut und dem gelblichen Farbstich der Fotos.
Als wir gehen wollten, sprach uns dann noch ein alter Mann an und fragte, ob wir unsere Flitterwochen am See verbringen würden. Ich habe nur gelächelt und gemeint: "Noch nicht!"

Compared to the generally better known cover versions of "Woodstock" by both "Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young" and "Matthews Southern Comfort", the original by Joni Mitchell features quite a calm yet haunting arrangement on her electric piano and together with her beautiful voice, this one is easily my favourite version. Unbelievable that she is said to have written this song about the infamous festival without even having even been there herself! All she knew about Woodstock she had heard from her then-boyfriend Graham Nash. Wow!
I chose this song to accompany this set of pictures as it kind of matched the atmosphere of a calm evening very nicely, don't you think?
The outfit I'm wearing is really comfy and ideal for warm summer nights as we have them right now. The pants lightly touch the legs while walking and doesn't it look nice when the sun shines through it? I love it! I'm also wearing my favourite cuff from Ereganto again which looks super nice in the golden sunset.

Verglichen mit den im Allgemeinen bekannteren Coverversionen des Songs "Woodstock" von sowohl "Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young" als auch "Matthews Southern Comfort", gibt sich das Original von Joni Mitchell eher ruhig und fast schon etwas unheimlich. Mit dem elektrischen Piano und Jonis wunderschönen Stimme ist diese Version auf jeden Fall meine Liebste. Unglaublich, dass sie dieses Lied über das berühmte Festival geschrieben haben soll, ohne jemals dort gewesen zu sein! Alles, was sie darüber wusste, hatte sie anscheinend von ihrem damaligen Freund Graham Nash erfahren. Wow!
Ich habe dieses Lied als Begleitung für diese Fotos ausgewählt, weil es die abendliche Atmosphäre so schön unterstreicht, findet ihr nicht?
Das Outfit, das ich hier trage, ist sehr gemütlich und ideal für laue Sommernächte wie wir sie im Moment haben. Die Hose berührt leicht die Beine beim Laufen und sieht es nicht toll aus, wenn die Sonne hindurch scheint? Ich liebe es! Ich trage auch wieder meinen Lieblingsarmreif von Ereganto, weil er im goldenen Sonnenlicht einfach wunderschön aussieht.

London Diary: Brick Lane

When you're in London and it's Sunday, you have a number of possibilities to spend your day - one of which being a visit to Brick Lane with all its markets, little shops and galleries. A lovely place if you're hungry and/or are looking for some inexpensive new clothes is the Sunday UpMarket in Brick Lane. I found two new jackets there and could've bought so much more if my suitcase hadn't been filled to the brim already! Next time, I'll take an extra suitcase just for the vintage clothes shopping!

Wenn man den Sonntag in London verbringt, hat man natürlich eine Menge Möglichkeiten, etwas zu unternehmen. Eine davon ist ein Besuch in der Brick Lane mit all ihren Märkten, kleinen Shops und Galerien. Ein sehr schöner Ort, wenn man hungrig ist oder günstig neue Klamotten kaufen möchte, ist der Sunday UpMarket auf der Brick Lane. Ich habe dort zwei neue Jacken gekauft und hätte noch so viel mehr mitgenommen, wenn mein Koffer nicht schon aus allen Nähten geplatzt wäre. Nächstes Mal nehme ich einen Extrakoffer nur fürs Vintage-Klamotten-Shopping mit!

Oh holy mother of God, words can't describe how much I love this band and blessed be the day that I will finally get the chance to see them live! Do you have a band that you're totally mad for right now??

The beautiful golden cuff I'm wearing together with my yellow AX Paris skirt I received from Ereganto. They have a lovely selection of golden cuffs and cute bracelets and I'm so happy wearing this gorgeous piece of fine jewelry with all kinds of outfits. I'm just really into wearing golden jewelry lately. It must be my ageing, haha. I used to wear only silver jewelry in the past but as of late, it's only golden jewelry I choose.

Oh heilige Mutter Gottes, Worte können meine Liebe zu dieser Band nicht beschreiben! Gesegnet sei der Tag, an dem ich sie endlich live sehen kann! Habt ihr grad eine Band, nach der ihr total verrückt seid?

Das goldene Armband, das ich links trage, ist von Ereganto und ich trage es im Moment wirklich mit so vielen verschiedenen Outfits. Im Moment trage ich sowieso fast nur noch goldenen Schmuck. Vielleicht liegt das am älter werden, haha, denn früher hatte ich fast nur silbernen Schmuck.
